We were first brought into the wonderful world of Sin City with Succubus created by C.S. Anderson; a city where the wonder is never in short supply. Sin City Succubus saw a half human/ half warlock dabbler by the name of Robert Jones thrown into a dimension where werewolves, vampires, warlocks and goblins not only exist but are governed by the Grand Council. Sin City Angels brings angels and gods into the mix, including one angel that you should never betray. I don’t really read this genre much but C.S. Anderson continues to surprise me. In Sin City Angels, we go on another adventure and find ourselves tested with Robert Jones and other characters.

To the readers of the realms of action/adventure and mythical alike, you will enjoy this as much as the next game of Dungeons and Dragons… just minus the dragons. I can’t get into too many details with this one because it’s a lot shorter than Succubus, but be prepared to go through a lot of epic changes. Mr. Anderson combines a great sense of humor, non-stop action, a lot of magic and a bit of violence topped with a major surprise that is heart stopping in the much-anticipated sequel in the dabbler series. Robert Jones is back and something keeps coming after him for the things he has done in the past. But will it be enough to stop him from protecting the one he loves? Pick up a copy of Sin City Angels, book 2 in the Dabbler series today and find out!

The only thing I can say is that book two was too short for my liking, as a fan of the Sin City series; but it does make me anxiously wait to see how far Anderson will take it in the next installment, as he left Angels with a tease of what’s to come. C.S. Anderson is talented in many ways and I know that we will continue to see more magic, more surprises and much more devastation to come in the future of the Sin City books. I look forward to seeing more from Anderson and seeing where Robert’s journey leads to next.

WARNING!!! IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE FIRST OR SECOND VOLUME OF PURE DARK. TURN AROUND AND READ THEM!!! THIS WILL SPOIL THE FUN STORY IT HOLDS WITHIN THE THREE VOLUMES!!! NOW AGAIN, I WARN YOU THIS BOOK WILL LEAVE YOUR BRAIN WITH A SLIGHT HEMORRHAGE FROM THE TALES AND HORROR THAT LIES WITHIN! THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH OR THE WEAK!

So far, from the first and second volumes of the epic ride through Pure Dark, we have encountered many mind-altering events that we will never forget. As I have said before, there is nothing in this world like the Pure Dark series; it is the ultimate new generation of Tales from the Crypt. The chaotic nature of each Pure Dark volume are all intertwined with the next, so to understand the turmoil of events that concludes with the end of this book, it is very important that you read this series from the first book. One day I happened to be standing around when I overheard someone saying that nothing creeps them out any more- that everything is paranormal this and paranormal that. I couldn’t help but turn around immediately and asked if they wanted something that will make them seize and turn their brain into mush; and if, by chance you happen to survive, you get a t-shirt. Of course, the person turned around and said yes. I told them to go online and get a copy of Pure Dark Vol. 1 by Andrew MacKay today, then get the second one when they finish as MacKay offers you the ultimate challenge for both your stomach and your mind.

Welcome again to the Pure Dark! In vol. 3, a lot happens that has your brain scrambling around trying to figure out what the hell you have just read- it is not a bad thing at all, as almost every chapter had me screaming ‘what in the hell is that’ or ‘what is going on here,’ (classic traits for Andrew MacKay.) Although this one did not make my stomach turn like the others, there is still plenty of MacKay’s writing that will make you scrunch your face and squirm in disgust. The story gets a bit thicker and darker in this volume, from the first chapter until the end. You will have your jaw on the floor and trying to poke your fingers in your brain to understand what exactly is happening. Volume 1 is my favorite so far but this one was a close second by a lobster’s claw. Who am I kidding? The whole series is great! If you are tempted to read the Pure Dark, I assure you that your dreams will never be the same again. Through the three volumes that I have read, I have had enough crazy dreams influenced by MacKay’s stories that it isn’t even funny. The vivid details that he lays out before you is fantastic. Join the Pure Dark and you may never go back to your normal self- that I assure you.

Andrew MacKay, you magnificent creator of nightmares, I always salute you. Yes, you are the unholy master of vivid nightmares in the world we live in today. You bring me to my knees to bow down to you every time I read one of your volumes. It brings me much joy to read something so disturbing, sickening and straight from the dark itself where anything can happen. This is why I will always think of you as the true master of constructing the most confusing nightmares and I will always be looking for more from the Pure Dark series. I am still sitting here thinking about the third volume because MacKay leaves us on one hell of a cliff edge to hang from; and it chaps my ass that I have to wait anxiously for the next one like a season of a television show. Well, I’m off until next time- I have a flight to catch, we are leaving for Fallopia and it is going to be an eleven hour flight so I need my rest.

Girl Departs Three (Part 2)

When it comes to matters of the heart, things can be tough to navigate- especially when you are young. The heart wants what it wants, but what if your heart was pulling you into two different directions; how would you choose? What if you’ve been hurt by both of those that your heart holds so dear? Do you go with the safer and more sensible route and go with a guy who loves and cares for you? Do you choose the bad boy who is certainly dangerous but absolutely in love with you? What happens when you add a pregnancy, jealousy and psycho exes into the mix? There’s so many logical ways to work out where to go and when you add a baby in, it becomes about what is the best for the baby and not about your wants anymore.

Tatum is a young woman who is eighteen and pregnant. Her boyfriend, Zach, is absolutely thrilled when he finds out and life seems to be working out for the two youngsters. Things change at a doctor’s visit that throws life at them in a very harsh way. Reluctantly agreeing to work for his uncle in Italy, Zach prepares to leave Tatum and the baby behind for two months to do the best for their budding family. When he lands, he gets some very surprising news that he must figure out how to tell Tatum. Meanwhile, Tatum runs into her ex while Zach is away and to say he is puzzled to see that she is pregnant is an understatement since it hasn’t been entirely too long since they split ways. When Zach comes home, he decides to tell her his news but will their love survive this? What is she to do when she has a baby to think about and it’s no longer about her? Pick up Girl Departs Three (Part 2) today and find out for yourself!

This is the first book I read by Suzie T. Roos and I am already looking forward to reading more in the saga that surrounds Tatum and find out how she navigates life as Roos takes this series and moves from young adult to new adult. This may be the fourth installment in the Spoken For series, but you really don’t have to read the previous books to follow along. I thought in the first few pages, I may want to reconsider starting with this book as there definitely was back story that I was missing but as I pressed on, I realized that this book is written in such a way that though the backstory would be nice to know, it’s not needed as anything major that you encounter is explained without it so you’re still in the loop. I was so engrossed in the story, I finished this book within fourteen hours (factoring in the time I slept too). Suzie T. Roos is very great at writing something that you can fully submerse yourself in and feel like you are right in the middle of the drama that is Girl Departs Three. There were times I wanted to slap a couple of characters, I cried with them, and I cheered for them. I cannot wait until the next book in this saga comes out so that I know more about what happens; I have suspicions but I want to know. But, until then, I will have to go back and read from the first book to get the full backstory that led up to Girl Departs Three as I patiently wait for Roos to finish the next chapter in Tatum, Zach and Nigel’s lives.
